Carrie Leigh Nude on newsstands now

Well, the Spring issue of Carrie Leigh's NUDE Magazine finally turned up at my local Barnes & Noble store, although mail order copies have not yet arrived. For what it's worth, I've discussed the availability problems with the good folks at CLN, and while they've been fighting against complications from earthquakes and the BP Oil Disaster, they're keenly aware of the distribution problems and are taking steps to prevent the problem from occurring with the next issue.

Thanks to models Spilt Sugar, Ana Tevka, and Xaina whose photos the editors chose to include in the feature. Also, thanks to Beebs, whose shots were not chosen, but who was every bit as intrepid facing Detroit decay and freezing temperatures.

You can still order online for $13.95 postpaid and I'm assured you'll get yours soon. It's generally available at Barnes & Noble stores, either with the art, photography or gentlemen's magazines, and while it's out here, it may not be everywhere just yet.

On the set

This is a shot from two Junes ago of Trishy, shortly before her "retirement" from modeling. It was excellent getting to work with her, but I thought I'd post this shot partly because it occurred to me that, although it looks like any old run-down house with peeling wallpaper, it was actually part of a movie location set in the Antelope Valley. I think that Jennifer Lopez movie "U-Turn" was shot, in part, at this location, as well as various others.

Compare the shot of Trishy with this shot of Xaina, from an actual abandoned hotel in Detroit. Shooting at the set had something of an advantage in that the building was actually somewhat structurally sound, and was certainly easier to get around. But there was a lot more variety in Detroit, along with a lot more broken glass. To her credit, for Xaina, the grungier a location is, the better.

Thanks to both models for their dedication!

Carrie Leigh at last

Finally saw a printed copy of the Spring 2009 Carrie Leigh Nude magazine with my feature in it, and it's a nice feeling indeed. They used four shots (one a 2-page spread) and wrote up a little profile paragraph. Congrats to the models in the issue, Jessica, Xaina and Katy T, for being chosen, and thanks to all the models from the past 3+ years for helping me progress and grow as a photographer.

Online sale of individual copies has ended, so to get the current issue by mail you can subscribe, or you can visit your local Borders, Barnes & Noble, Hastings, or other big box newsstand to see if they have copies for sale. I'll probably do that later myself...

Congratulations to my friends and acquaintances featured in the issue: Tia, Tom Lane, |ris/Becky, Chip Willis, Carlotta Champagne, David LeBeck, Betcee May, Antoine de Villiers, and Lloyd Rosen, as well as the other models and photographers.

P.S. Just found a number of copies at my local Barnes & Noble, so B&N and Borders would probably be the first places to look if you wanna copy.

Kick out the Jams

Over on the Detroit Jam Sessions blog, I'll be posting a selection of images from each of the four models I shot that weekend. The first ones of Vassanta went up today, with the other models to follow on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so stop by often to check 'em out.

And I couldn't make a post with this title without a nod to Detroit's own MC5 (Motor City 5) performing their signature song, "Kick out the Jams."

And here's a spirited cover by the crazed Seattle band, The Presidents of the United States...

Detroit Jam Session

Crossposted from Detroit Jam Sessions, a blog collecting images and stories from this past weekend's events...

I've been told that if I edit images from this past weekend before editing images from certain past shoots, I may or may not live to regret it. So, if I disappear mysteriously after this post, I do wish to pass along how great it was to see/meet everyone this weekend, and I especially want to thank the models who graciously fit me into their schedules. These are not all I'll finish, but just the first shot from each model to jump out at me.

A new side of Vassanta, mistressing to Iris, and loving it.

The gorgeous Deb returns to modeling in the oh-so-glamorous surroundings of the Pilot House. This is 100% percent unretouched...

RJ Berry discovered several talents she didn't realize she had during our brief shoot, despite not letting her pose in the canoe...

Last, but certainly not least, Xaina brings her remarkable beauty to perhaps the cruddiest room in the entire Russell Industrial Center complex. X marks the spot!

Thanks again to the models, and I owe a number of you "proper" shoots one of these days. Great to see everyone at the party as well... already looking forward to the next one!
