In the running...

Well, the Erotic Review voting and judging have finished, and while I didn't finish in the money, mine was chosen as one of the 36 top portfolios, so I'm guessing that means I'll have some images included in their annual book project again this year. Thanks to those of you who took the time to vote, and congratulations to this year's winners.

If you're as burned out as I am on the whole "Health Care Reform" business (or even if you're not), here's a chance to make YOUR vote count. The Erotic Review "Reader's Prize" voting for 2010 is currently underway, so why not pay a visit to the site and score some of the images there. Click the link in the middle of the page to launch a slide show, then to vote, just press a number between 1 and 9 on your keyboard (9 being best), and in a few seconds the next image will automagically load. Not to bias your thinking, I won't tell you which ones are mine, or which belong to friends of mine -- just check them out, and vote high for the ones you like. Website says voting ends March 31.

I was fortunate enough to win this prize last year, and it would be great to finish in the money again this year. I'd love to finish in the top 5 among the Judge's Prize voting this year, so cross your fingers, please.

Erotic Review Reader's Choice Winner

Was just a little bit floored to see the news that my shot of Spilt Sugar won the Reader's Prize in the Erotic Review Photographer of the Year contest. With over 400,000 votes cast, my thanks to all of you who took the time to support me in the voting! Congratulations to Frédéric Fontenoy for winning the judge's prize, and to all the other winners.

Special thanks to Spilt Sugar for being such an expressive model, and for not being afraid to be a little risqué for the shot. She's an excellent photographer in her own right as well... check out her blog here. Wish I could karaoke with you this weekend!

I managed to be a runner-up in last year's Reader's Choice voting, so I'm excited to have improved upon that this time. This is especially welcome news after a couple recent disappointments. I do think I'll have more good news to share soon (fingers crossed) so stay tuned!

Erotic Review "Reader's Choice" Voting

I entered about a dozen images into the Erotic Review contest this year, with the judges prizes to be announced this weekend (I think) March 16, but they're also doing their "Reader's Choice" voting again. So if you want to express yourselves by scoring a few (or a whole lot) of erotic images, create a free membership (basically an e-mail verification), and then visit their voting page. It's very simple to score the images on a 1-9 scale (just hit the number on your keyboard) so you can zip through the good (and the bad) and make a difference. I was 2nd runner-up in last year's voting, so hopefully I can improve on that this year. I'm very pleased with the selection of images I submitted, including this one of Aveda Marie. There are no watermarks or other identification on the images, so just vote for what you like best.

Last year's contest book is also available through the site. It's about the size of a TV guide, so not a coffee table volume, but actually a nice size and well printed. Check it out.

Small Victories...

In troubled times, you take whatever good news may come your way.

Just found out that this shot of PXE won a little group contest over on Flickr. This shot has been quite a favorite over there, and while the contest is not a huge deal, it's a good excuse to post it again here. :)

Also learned that the book from the Erotic Review 2008 Photographer of the Year Prize has been printed and is available for international orders, and at some point (April?) will be available to order from Amazon. If you click through the "postcards" on their site, you can see small versions of most (all?) the photos in the book. (Mine are #2-6 on page 15.) Honestly, I feel the quality of some of the images presented is less than spectacular, so if you're a photographer DOING spectacular work, put your entry in for next year's book and help raise the bar. Also, one shot I entered that was NOT picked was actually requested by one of the judges to run in a UK magazine, so you never know what will come of things.
